Galbreath Launches New CH8 Container Handler

Redesigned handler adds a 360-degree slew drive, sheds nearly 500 pounds and simplifies installation for fleets running front- and rear-load containers.

WINAMAC, Ind., September 14, 2026 — Galbreath, a leading manufacturer of hook and cable hoists, container handlers and trailers for the waste, recycling and scrap industries, announced the launch of the new CH8 Container Handler today. The CH8 is currently available for purchase through Galbreath's North American dealer network.

The CH8 Container Handler is engineered to move containers efficiently and deliver a more versatile way for fleets to transport, deliver and service front- and rear-load steel dumpsters. With this redesign, operators have greater flexibility and productivity, along with an easier installation and customization process. The advancements made to the CH8 maintain the durability and rugged performance that Galbreath products are known for.

"Fleet operators told us exactly what they needed from a container handler, so we built the CH8 around that feedback,” said Matthew Mock, Director of Engineering at Galbreath. "They wanted a lighter truck—something that can be installed faster and easier—that could still take a beating day after day. We spent a lot of time on the floor and out in the field with the people who operate this equipment daily. Every change in this design traces back to a conversation we have had with a customer."

Design and Performance

The CH8 features a new 360-degree slew drive rotator, giving operators the capability to dump full containers in either direction. Weighing approximately 500 pounds less than the previous CH8000R model, the CH8 still demonstrates strength without sacrificing capacity, handling front-load containers up to 10 yards, rear-load containers up to 6 yards and loads up to 8,000 pounds.

Its new modular, bolt-on design also gives fleets greater flexibility, allowing them to configure the CH8 with a variety of towing and lighting options that meet their specific operational needs.

Container Handling Improvements

High-strength, heat-treated forks and strategically relocated bumper pads provide enhanced support during loading and unloading, while redesigned fork support plates simplify rear-load container alignment. Retainer straps are included as a standard for securing containers during transit, assuring stability from pickup to drop off.

Installation and Options

The CH8 is designed for weld-free installation, with bolt-on mounting brackets and hardware included for streamlined setup. Fleets can also configure the unit’s framework to meet their specific business operations with a range of options, including Toter cart transport platforms, work lights, camera systems, frame-mounted toolboxes, pintle hooks, electric remote controls, and lid and rod holders.
